How We Work

We take a strategic approach with all our work. We believe our approach will drive significant value for your business, we understand the need to drive some short term results while focusing on the longer term. In fact we guarantee we’ll grow web traffic and sales for any client that works with us.

All projects start with an initial strategic review to understand the market, clarify the brand values and proposition before we start to do any promotion or design work. From here we would then develop develop the plan and the design direction and execution will flow from this.

A typical engagement revolves around three phases; Strategy, Build and Growth:

  1. Marketing Strategy - Branding, Marketing, Digital Promotion, Website Scoping, SEO. We engage at a strategy level first. We often develop a high level marketing plan that identifies the key customers, core proposition and the right search phrases so your prospects can find you. We would also complete a site review looking at opportunities to increase customer engagement. Finally we provide a clear set of recommendations on how to continue to increase sales.
  2. Digital Build – Young&Shand have a team of talented designers using the latest web development software to create online marketing assets that are flexible and will grow with your business. We believe in building assets that have long term value to your business. Websites, Blogs, Facebook Pages, Articles can all live on and generate ongoing traffic and business.
  3. Online Growth - Having the right strategy and building new digital assets is only the start. Unlike other development companies we work proactively with you to build and drive traffic to your site. To do this we develop campaigns, and use tools such as SEO (search engine optimisation for natural search), SEM (search engine marketing – paid search using adwords, yahoo, bing), banner advertising, Facebook, email marketing to drive growth. We recommend that the results are reviewed quarterly, enabling us to develop an appropriate activity plan and goals for the following quarter.

Strategy and Build Stages – Typical Deliverables:

  • Research – Young&Shand will undertake research to understand and identify the target market to identify the branding direction that needs to be developed. We will also review your key competitors and international sites, trends and technology to determine the best overall online strategy to move forward.
  • Prototyping – We will develop a wireframe web model that defines exactly the elements to be built for each page. This is essentially a blueprint for how the website will work.
  • Keyword Analysis – As part of the development a list of keywords with be identified for your site. We will seed these in the website copy in order to build strong natural search engine traffic.
  • Design – We believe spending the time to get the design right is critical for any project. We will develop the design brief with you so there is a clear direction. We then develop an initial mood board which indicates the style and direction that is right for your brand before moving onto detailed design.
  • Web Build – From the research, functionality requirements and wireframes we will then identity the best platform to develop the website on considering the integration required with the backend systems. We will develop the site with a user friendly CMS (content management system) so that you can manage the site on a day to day basis.
